Tumbleweed: A Tiny Home in an Austin Agrihood

Andrea | 09/10/2026

Located at Village Farm in Austin, Texas, the Tumbleweed is a 399-square-foot tiny home designed to make compact living feel surprisingly spacious.

The 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom home packs a full kitchen, comfortable living area, dedicated bedroom and generous outdoor space into a footprint of just 15 by 34 feet. Large windows and high ceilings help keep the interior bright and open, while the covered front porch provides an extra place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Village Farm offers two versions of the Tumbleweed, each taking a slightly different approach to the same compact footprint.

The original Tumbleweed features a king-size bedroom, full kitchen and covered front deck, with an emphasis on making the main living spaces feel as comfortable as possible.

The newer version swaps in a queen bedroom and adds a loft/flex space, sliding barn doors, high ceilings and an 8-foot covered porch. The result is a little more flexibility for working, relaxing or accommodating guests.

But the home is only part of the appeal. Village Farm is an agrihood, combining tiny-home living with a working farm, gardens, shared amenities, and community spaces. Residents get a compact private home while gaining access to a much larger environment beyond their front door.

It's a great example of how tiny living isn't always about having less. Sometimes it's about making the most of your home while sharing the rest.
