Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Tiny Homes LTD (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you visit tinyhomesltd.com (the “Site”). It also describes your privacy rights, including under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (“CCPA”).

Information we collect

• Information you provide. When you submit a comment, contact form, or create an account, we may collect your name, email address, and the content you submit.
• Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically collect usage and device data — such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring pages, and timestamps — using cookies and similar technologies.
• Advertising data. Our advertising partner (Google) and its partners may collect information through cookies and identifiers to serve and measure ads (see below).

Cookies and similar technologies

We use the following categories of cookies:

• Essential — required for the Site to function (e.g., authentication, security). These are always active.
• Analytics — help us understand traffic and improve the Site. Analytics cookies and other persistent analytics storage are set only after you opt in. Before you opt in, our product analytics still counts page views, but in a memory-only mode that sets no cookies, writes nothing to your browser’s local storage, and keeps no identifier after you close the tab (see below).
• Advertising — used by Google AdSense and its partners to deliver and measure ads, including personalized ads. Set only with your consent where required.

You can change your choices at any time using Cookie settings or, where applicable, Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.

Analytics

We use PostHog (PostHog Inc., US cloud region) for product analytics. PostHog is a service provider that processes this data on our behalf. We also continue to use Vercel Analytics for traffic measurement — PostHog is in addition to it, not a replacement for it.

PostHog is served through our own domain: the script and the data it sends travel over an /ingest/ path on tinyhomesltd.com rather than calling PostHog’s own domains directly. We state this plainly because it affects what you see in your browser: these are first-party requests to this Site, so tools and extensions that block third-party trackers will not block them — but the data is still forwarded to PostHog and processed there.

Anonymous by default. For every visitor who has not opted in to Analytics, PostHog runs in a memory-only mode: no cookies, nothing written to your browser’s local storage, and no persistent identifier. Page views are counted anonymously, and nothing about your visit persists once you close the tab.

If you opt in to Analytics — and only then — PostHog upgrades to persistent storage: an identifier kept in a cookie and in your browser’s local storage — so that your visits can be linked together across sessions.

No session recording. We do not record or replay your browsing sessions. PostHog collects discrete events — page views and clicks — never a recording of your screen that could be played back and watched afterwards.

Global Privacy Control overrides consent. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, PostHog stays anonymous permanently in that browser: storage is never upgraded, even if Analytics consent is granted afterwards. GPC wins.

Withdrawing consent. Turning Analytics off in Cookie settings clears the persistent PostHog identifier and its cookies, and returns PostHog to anonymous, memory-only counting. Using Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information turns Analytics off in the same way.

Comments

You can leave a comment on a blog post. Doing so stores exactly three things in our database: the name you type, the email address you type if you choose to provide one (it is optional), and the text of your comment. Nothing else about you is attached to it — in particular, we do not store your IP address with your comment.

What is published and what is not. Your name and your comment text are published on the post, publicly, next to the date you submitted them. Your email address is never published and is never shown to other readers; it exists only so we can contact you about your comment, and we do not add it to any mailing list.

Nothing you submit publishes itself. Every comment arrives unapproved and stays invisible to other readers until a person reviews and approves it. Until then it is visible only to site administrators, in a moderation queue.

Spam protection, and what it does with your IP address. To stop a single source flooding the site, the server counts recent submissions per visitor. It does this by hashing your IP address with a random value that is generated when the server starts and discarded when it stops, holding the result in memory only. That hash is never written to the database, never logged, and cannot be turned back into an IP address; once the server restarts, the previous hashes are meaningless. The form also contains a hidden field that automated bots fill in and people never see.

How long we keep it. An approved comment is part of the page it appears on, so we keep it for as long as that post is published — indefinitely. A comment that is not approved stays in the moderation queue until an administrator deletes it. If you want a comment of yours removed, email us at privacy@tinyhomesltd.com and we will delete it, including the email address attached to it.

Comments are stored in our database (Supabase) alongside the rest of the Site’s content. They are not used for advertising, are not shared with our advertising partners, and are not fed into analytics.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

How we use information

• To operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content;
• To publish and moderate comments;
• To respond to your inquiries;
• To measure and analyze traffic, performance, and how the Site is used;
• To serve and measure advertising;
• To protect against fraud and abuse and to comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following legal bases:

• Consent — for advertising and analytics cookies, for persistent analytics storage, and where otherwise required;
• Legitimate interests — to operate and secure the Site;
• Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information with:

• Service providers who process data on our behalf — including Supabase (database & authentication), Vercel (hosting & analytics), and PostHog (product analytics, US cloud region);
• Advertising partners — Google and its partners, for ad delivery and measurement;
• Legal & safety — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

Your GDPR rights (EEA / UK)

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to:

• access, correct, or delete your personal data;
• restrict or object to processing;
• data portability;
• withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing);
• lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To serve personalized ads to users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we rely on a Google-certified consent management platform; you will be asked for consent before such cookies are set.

Your California rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose;
• Delete personal information we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate personal information;
• Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information (which can include the use of advertising cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising);
• Limit the use of sensitive personal information; and
• be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.

To opt out, use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. In addition to disabling personalized advertising, this also turns Analytics off: it clears the persistent PostHog identifier and its cookies, and returns PostHog to anonymous, memory-only counting. We also honor opt-out preference signals, including the Global Privacy Control (GPC), as a valid request to stop selling/sharing your personal information; where GPC is present, PostHog additionally stays anonymous permanently. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymized. Published comments are the deliberate exception — they remain on the post they belong to for as long as it is published (see Comments above).

International data transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
